Course Description

The Short Course in Gastrointestinal Tract Sonography is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and technical skills required for ultrasound evaluation of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Participants will learn about sonographic anatomy, normal and abnormal findings, and diagnostic techniques for conditions such as bowel obstruction, appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and tumors. The course emphasizes hands-on training to enhance image acquisition, interpretation, and clinical correlation. Graduates will be able to perform GI tract ultrasound with confidence in various clinical settings.

 

The main objectives of this program are to:

  1. Understand the sonographic anatomy of the gastrointestinal tract.

  2. Learn scanning techniques for evaluating the stomach, intestines, and other GI structures.

  3. Identify normal and abnormal ultrasound findings in GI imaging.

  4. Diagnose conditions such as bowel obstruction, appendicitis, and inflammatory bowel diseases.

  5. Recognize sonographic features of tumors and other gastrointestinal pathologies.

  6. Optimize ultrasound settings for enhanced imaging of the GI tract.

  7. Apply ultrasound in emergency and routine gastrointestinal assessments.
